Summary
So to sum up what we have learned and taught you we have created a little slide show. We hope you guys enjoy...... Earthquakes!
Earth’s outer crust is made up of about huge fragments, called tectonic plates, that fit together like a cracked eggshell.
|
So an Earthquake is caused when there is movement of rock below the ground. There are powerful forces pulling the rock in the crust that move Earth's plates. The forces are types of stress. There are 3 kinds of stress that occur are called. Shearing,Tension, and Compression. They occur in the faults. There are 3 types of faults.Strike-Slip,Normal,and Reverse. Finally, they are included in 3 different boundaries Transform, Convergent, and Divergent.
Each type of stress belongs witha certain fault, and those 2 both belong to a certain boundary. So Compression goes with a Reverse Fault, and they go with a Convergent Boundary.A Normal Fault goes with Tension and they both go with Divergent. Finally Shearing goes with a Strike Slip Fault and they go with Transform Boundary. The faults, stress, and boundaries that are in the same color go together. |
